In 2019 I decided to fulfill an innermost desire to run a marathon. I not only wanted to do it for myself but to do it for a good cause. I chose Diabetes UK as my family have often fundraised for the organisation since my little brother, Tim, died of the condition when he was only 3 1/2 years old, my father also died of Diabetes related complications.
I am a Physiotherapist and I often have to treat patients who have complications from Diabetes as it is a growing global problem. I also wanted to provide entertainment and run the marathon whilst simultaneously conducting a live streamed radio show. This was successfully done and listened to globally. Over £3000 was raised and it was all given to Diabetes UK. This year as part of the 40th anniversary of the London Marathon I will be repeating the run and simultaneous broadcast. This year the show will be stepped up by myself and the radio dave mate central team to provide you with a very entertaining day so do tune in on April 26th from 9.30am (BST).
This link will be live on the day of the run, from 9:30am.
Please help Radiodavemate reach it's goal, by donating to the cause.
Tweets will be read out on air and messages of support passed on.
