I have always been envious of those people who could run a marathon, never dreaming I could run one myself. On the inspiration of my wife who managed to do the ‘Couch to 5K’ program where I ran with her occasionally, I decided, at 56 years old, I would attempt to do one and try for the famous London Marathon. I not only want to run it but want to do it for a good cause and have chosen Diabetes UK. The huge reason for this is my family have often fundraised for the organisation since my little brother, Tim, died of the condition when he was only 3 1/2 years old.
I am a Physiotherapist and I often have to treat patients who have Diabetes as it is a growing global problem. I also want to not only run the marathon and raise money for Diabetes but to conduct a live podcast whilst running it. Apart from playing great music I will be presenting the show with the help of a central team as I run. It will also feature pre recorded and live interviews on the route and help with raising awareness about Diabetes, about marathon running and the motivation of other people who will be in the famous race. It will be a great show so do listen in and do donate to this great cause where all of the money will go to Diabetes UK. Thanks. Radiodavemate
