Last year I ran the London Marathon and raised £3000 for Diabetes UK. This charity means a lot to me as both my brother and father died through diabetes complications. I am also a Physiotherapist for the NHS and Diabetes is the cause of much disability in the world plus it has made people vulnerable to the Corona virus. I also ran the marathon as a live radio broadcast, it was a show that featured interviews and music as well as live coverage of the race whilst I was running.
This year the 40th London Marathon is different due to the CoVid crisis. It was originally planned in April but now is happening on Oct 4th. It is being run virtually ie each participant is running their own circuit. I am running a circuit around Ringwood, in fact to make up the 26.2 miles (42 Km) it will be repeated 4 times (see map).
I will be running and simultaneously broadcasting a live radio show again. The show will be just like last year featuring music, interviews and my thoughts and reflections on the run. Again it will be to raise money and awareness for Diabetes UK but this year, as it is being run around Ringwood, I will be raising awareness for local businesses in Ringwood especially those affected by the current crisis.
Do please support me by listening to the live streamed radio show at #radiodavemate and, if you are nearby then do come and give me a shout. Start will be 9am (BST).
This link will be live on the day of the run, from 9:00am.
Please help Radiodavemate reach it's goal, by donating to the cause.
Tweets will be read out on air and messages of support passed on.
